Tour overview:

The capital Amman, the magnificent Nabataean city of Petra, the spectacular Greco-Roman ruins of Jerash, Lawrence of Arabia’s famous Wadi Rum, and many other historical and impressive sites make Jordan a land of mesmerizing natural beauty, cultural complexity and dramatic East meets West contrasts.

1 Day 1: Arrive Amman

Arrive to Amman, Jordan, where you are met and escorted to your hotel. (D)

2 Day 2: Amman – Jerash & Ajloun

This morning travel north of Amman to the Roman city of Jerash. You are greeted by the imposing triple-arched gateway built to honor the Emperor Hadrian’s arrival at Jerash in A.D. 129. Visit the Temples of Zeus, the mile-long Street of Columns, Cardo Maximus, the colonnaded streets, theaters, baths and over 17 churches that were found in Jerash. Afternoon travel further north to the village of Ajlun to visit the ancient Saracen  Castle named Qalat Al-Rabad, one of the best-preserved examples of the Medieval/Islamic military architecture in the entire Middle East.  Afternoon return to Amman and enjoy a city tour including a visit to the old and new parts of the city as well as the Citadel and the Roman Amphitheater. 3 Day 3: Amman / Madaba / Mt. Nebo / Kerak / Petra

Travel to Petra via Madaba, Mt. Nebo and Kerak. Some of the world’s finest Byzantine mosaics are found in Madaba, as is the oldest known map of the Holy Land. Mt. Nebo, thought to be the burial site of Moses, boasts a splendid view of the Dead Sea. Visit Kerak’s massive Crusader Castle, built on a plateau 3,400 feet above sea level. This famous castle lies in the biblical land of Moab and was a Moabite stronghold long before the Crusaders built the castle for which it is famous today. (BLD)

4 Day 4: Petra

Full day to explore the legendary rose-red city of Petra. Petra is the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. Most of the 800 monuments in Petra are carved out of solid rock. See the spectacular Treasury, the 8,000-seat amphitheater, the Temple of the Winged Lions and other monuments. (BLD)

5 Day 5: Petra / Wadi Rum / Amman

Travel to Wadi Rum. Here you explore the desert in open 4WD vehicle with a Bedouin guide. Lawrence of Arabia spent time on this awesome moonscape of sand and wind-sculpted stone. Later return to Amman and enjoy a farewell dinner at the unique Kan Zaman Village. (BD)

6 Day 6: Depart Amman 

Transfer to the airport for your flight. (B)
