1 Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik, capital of Iceland

Arrival in Reykjavik according to your own itinerary. Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, is located 45 minutes from the airport. Please note that airport transfer is not included, but can be booked separately. Perhaps you would even like to add a stop at the Blue Lagoon for a relaxing bath on the way from the airport? Please see add-ons for further details.

The Icelandic population consists of only 320 thousand people and almost 60% of them live in the greater Reykjavik area. Even though Reykjavik is not a big city compared to other capitals of the world, it has everything a cosmopolitan city should offer; great dining, unique boutiques, shops, museums, theaters and a vibrant nightlife. Accommodation in Reykjavik at Hotel Cabin. The hotel is located in the largest recreational and fitness area in Reykjavik, with the biggest swimming pool in Reykjavik close by. Dinner is not included in the program this evening, but Reykjavik offers many quality restaurants to choose from.

2 Day 2:Golden Circle

Breakfast at the hotel. This day you will head for the famous Golden Circle tour which includes 3 highlights. The first one is the Þingvellir National Park, where the ancient parliament met for centuries on the shores of Iceland’s largest lake. The Þingvellir area is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland. It is where the continental drift between the Eurasian plate and the North American plate takes place. The second highlight is the Geysir hot spring area. There you will see a hot spring spouting water up to 40 meters height in the air every few minutes. The third highlight of the Golden Circle is Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls. Dinner and accommodation in Hvolsvöllur area at Hotel Hvölsvöllur.

3 Day 3: South Shore

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will head for the South Coast of Iceland. You will make stops to admire two magnificent waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss. You will also have the chance of enjoying the great views from Dyrholaey headland where thousands of puffins nest during the summer. Before heading to the hotel the coach will make a stop in the quaint village of Vik. Dinner and accommodation in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area for the next 2 nights at Hotel Laki.

4 Day 4: Skaftafell National Park - Glacial Lagoon

Breakfast at the hotel. This day you will head out for a day tour and return to the same hotel in the late afternoon. The highlight of the day is the Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon where huge icebergs dance around in icy seawater. Here you have the option to go on a boat tour among the icebergs. The guide will help you with the booking on spot. During the day you will have great views of Skaftafell National Park and to Iceland's highest peak, Hvannadalshnjukur. Dinner and accommodation in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area at Hotel Laki.

5 Day 5: Landmannalaugar - bathing in natural hot spring

Breakfast at the hotel. You will spend this day in the Landmannalaugar area, an astonishing area surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains. The surreal beauty of this uninhabited area reveals deep valleys and sculptured mountains, many formed under glaciers during the Ice Age. There is much geothermal activity in the area and you will have the opportunity to bath outside in a naturally heated geothermal hot spring. Dinner and accommodation in Thjorsardalur area at Hotel Leirubakki.

6 Day 6: Sprengisandur - black sand desert

Breakfast at the hotel. This day you will discover hidden treasures of Iceland's uninhabited interior as you travel along the central Sprengisandur route, which is a vast, barren, black desert connecting the north and south. You have an adventurous day ahead with rough tracks and unbridged glacial rivers to drive over. Dinner and accommodation in the Lake Myvatn area for the next 2 nights at Fosshotel Laugar or similar.

7 Day 7: Lake Myvatn area

Breakfast at the hotel. This day you will head out for a day tour and return to the same hotel in the late afternoon. You will travel through the town of Husavik and around the Tjörnes peninsula. You will have the chance to explore the lush vegetation residing in the horseshoe-shaped canyon of Asbyrgi. The journey will continue to Dettifoss waterfall, Europe's most powerful waterfall. Today you will also get to know the Lake Myvatn area better. The area is a geological wonderland and paradise for bird watchers. Dinner and accommodation in the Lake Myvatn area at Fosshotel Laugar or similar.

8 Day 8: Akureyri

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will visit Akureyri, the second biggest city in Iceland, and have some time at leisure there. Among attractions in Akureyri are the botanical gardens, the local geothermal pool, the Listagil culture area, the town's church and the famous Brynjuis store which sells local ice-cream. Other interesting place you will visit this day is on of the most impressive waterfalls in the country, Godafoss Waterfall. During the day you will also pass the Skagafjördur district, known as the traditional heart of horse breeding in Iceland, An optional horseback ride tour will be available for those who want during the evening (booked and paid on spot). Dinner and accommodation in Hvammstangi area at Gauksmyri Lodge or similar.

9 Day 9: Visit fishing villages & meet vikings

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will continue your journey through rolling farmlands and visit the Viking Age house at Eiriksstadir, which was the original home of Erik the Red and birthplace of his son, Leif Eikriksso, who is said to have discovered North America. In the turf-covered longhouse at Eiriksstadir, you will meet modern day vikings who will demonstrate the lifestyle from 1000 years ago. After the stop at Eiriksstadir you will continue through small seaside towns on the northern coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. You will make stops in some of the small fishing villages on the way like Grundarfjördur village and Olafsvik village. Dinner and accommodation in Snæfellsnes area at Hotel Olafsvik or similar

10 Day 10: Snæfellsjökull National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will explore the amazing variety in natural landscapes of Snæfellsnes National Park. The jewel of the national park is the Snæfellsjökull glacier itself, which covers a dormant volcano that last erupted in 250 AD. In the national park you will walk along a black-stone beach called Djúpalónssandur. There you will see peculiar rock formations along with four special rocks which people used to test their strengths in the days of the fishing station. When you arrive to the harbor village of Arnarstapi you will observe magnificent basalt rock in stacked formations and take a unique walk along the hiking trail linking the settlements of Arnarstapi and Hellnar. From there you will continue to the Reykjavik. Dinner on your own this evening. Accommodation in Reykjavik at Hotel Cabin.

11 Day 11: Departure from Reykjavik
