6 Days

1 Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland

Arrival in Reykjavik according to your own itinerary. Please note that airport transfer is not included but can be booked separately, see add-ons for more details. Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, is located 45 minutes from the airport. The Icelandic population consists of only 320.000 people and almost 60% of them live in the greater Reykjavik area. Even though Reykjavik is not a big city compared to other capitals of the world, it has everything a cosmopolitan city should offer; great dining, unique boutiques, shops, museums, theaters and a vibrant nightlife. Accommodation at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura. The hotel is located close to the city center in a quiet, wooden area near the sea. The city center is approximately 20 minutes away by foot but the hotel offers free city bus tickets for their guests. A bus stops close to the hotel every 30 minutes.

Dinner is not included in the program this evening, but there is an excellent restaurant at the hotel and Reykjavik offers many quality restaurants to choose from.

2 Day 2: Golden Circle Tour & Northern Lights

Breakfast at the hotel. You will meet your guide at the hotel in the morning. First visit of the day will be to a newly opened Northern Lights Centre in Reykjavik to gather exciting and informative information about the Northern Lights. After the visit you will drive away from Reykjavik and towards the three best known nature attractions in Iceland that together make the so called “Golden Circle”. The first stop is at Þingvellir National Park, a place of great geological and historical interest. Here you can walk around the ancient site of the world's first parliament held outdoors. Þingvellir has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004. The second stop is by the Geysir hot spring area where you will see spewing geysers. During the stop there you will also get to dig up a newly baked hot spring bread and taste it with hot spring cooked eggs, Icelandic butter, herring and local schnapps. The third and final stop included in the Golden Circle is by the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall. Here the river Hvita drops 30 meters in two falls, creating an awesome spectacle. From there the tour continues to the hotel at Fludir. Dinner will be served at the hotel. Accommodation at Icelandair Hotel Fludir.

3 Day 3: South Shore & visit to Icelandic farm

Breakfast at the hotel. You will spend this day exploring the region close to the towering volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, which is probably one of the most famous volcanoes in the world after it erupted in 2010. At the Volcano Visitor Centre at Þorvaldseyri Farm, located beneath Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, you will be able to see, both in pictures and on movie, the eruption and its impact on the countryside, the country itself and the whole world. You will drive along the south shore and make stops at the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. From there you keep driving further east and get to Reynisfjara beach where you can view extraordinary rock formations and thundering waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Dinner and accommodation at Icelandair Hotel Klaustur with magnificent views of Vatnajökull glacier, the biggest glacier in Europe. After dinner you will head out with the the guide and go for a walk whilst searching for the Northern Lights.

4 Day 4: Winter Nature & Northern Lights

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will drive to Skaftafell National Park, which is one of Iceland's most outstanding areas of natural beauty, dominated by Europe largest glacier named Vatnajokull. From there you continue to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon where you can enjoy a breathtaking sight of floating icebergs on the fantastic 180m deep glacial lagoon. From there you head back to the hotel for dinner. Accommodation at Icelandair Hotel Klaustur.

5 Day 5: Bathing in Blue Lagoon

Breakfast at the hotel. You head towards the village of Hveragerdi which is one of the few sites in the world located directly on top of a geothermal area. Hveragerdi is often called "the flower village" because of its many greenhouses heated by hot water from nearby springs. The tour continues to Strandarkirkja, a church popularly believed to have a special power to aid success or provide good luck. From there the coach will continue along the southwest coast towards the Reykjanes peninsula where you enjoy a dip in the famous Blue Lagoon. This is a unique wonder of nature with pleasantly warm and mineral-rich geothermal water in the middle of a black lava field. After the warm and relaxing bath you return to Reykjavik where the evening is at your own leisure. Dinner on your own. Accommodation at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura.

6 Day 6: Departure from Reykjavik
