1 Day 1: Lapaz

Transfer from the airport to the hotel in La Paz. La Paz airport is located 25 minutes away from any hotel downtown. Transportation includes bilingual guide, assistance on arrival and porterage at the airport. Overnight at your selected hotel*.

2 Day 2: Tiwanaku - Titicaca Lake

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku (1.580 BC-1.000 AD). These magnificent ruins of Bolivia belong to one of the oldest civilizations in the Americas. The Sun Gate, the Temple of Kalasasaya and the Pyramid of Akapana are the sample of a glorious past. Tiwanaku culture was an agrarian based economy with an estimated population of 115.000 inhabitants. Continuation to Huatajata at the shores of Lake Titicaca. On arrival, visit the Andean Roots Eco Village; the Altiplano Museum; the Handicrafts Village; the Mud Igloos, and the Mortuary Towers of the Urus Chipayas. Meet the Limachi family, builders of the RA II and Tigris for epic expeditions across the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy our elegant vicuñas, llamas, alpacas and the mythical Suri. Audiovisual presentation and night experience of The Mystic World of the Kallawayas, natural healers of Bolivia who believe that you first have to heal the soul in order to heal your body. Tata Benjo -our Kallawaya- will bless visitors and answer questions by casting his sacred coca leaves. Enjoy a nocturnal visit to the Native Observatory Alajpacha. Learn about the Aymara Cosmovision and watch the southern constellations. Overnight at the Inca Utama Hotel & SPA.

3 Day 3: Titicaca Lake

Breakfast at the hotel. Hydrofoil cruise to Moon Island. Visit the Sun Virgins Temple “Iñak Uyu”. Continue to Sun Island. Visit the Inca Grand Stairs and the Sacred Fountain; taste the water believed to give eternal youth and happiness. Lunch at the Uma Kollu archaeological restaurant. Visit the small handicraft market. Cruise to Copacabana, located at the shores of Lake Titicaca. Once in Copacabana, visit the shrine and the Dark Indian Virgin. Overland journey to back to La Paz. Overnight at your selected hotel*.

4 Day 4: Uyuni

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the La Paz airport. Flight La Paz/Uyuni. Arrival to Uyuni and transfer to the hotel to leave the luggage. Immediately start an excursion to the Salt Lake and Isla Pescado. Uyuni is the largest salt flat on Earth, located on the Bolivian Andean Altiplano with 12.000 square km. The Bolivian Andes offer stunning sceneries which can be hardly matched. The sound of silence makes the heart beats faster and the surreal pentagons of crystalline salt, the pure sky, the color lagoons, the cacti and the flamingos, certainly makes you feel that there is no other place like this in the whole world. Lunch at Isla Pescado, also called “Incahuasi”, an oasis with formations of algae and fossils. It is covered by thousands of giant columnar cacti, which can be more than a hundred years old, growing to a height of over 12 m. The landscape against the background of the salt pans extending to the horizon makes it an ideal place for photography hunters. Dinner and overnight at a salt hotel* at the shores of the Uyuni Salt Lake.

5 Day 5: Uyuni

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a full day excursion to the small village of Tahua, at the foot of Thunupa Volcano. Stroll through the village and hike to the cave of the Coquesa Mummies. Lunch included. Dinner and overnight at a salt hotel* at the shores of the Uyuni Salt Lake.

6 Day 6: Lapaz

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport. Flight Uyuni/ La Paz. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. City Tour in the afternoon. La Paz and its surroundings can transport you to a mysterious past where any corner, any street, is a hidden treasure where adventure begins; a living history which treasures the pre-Hispanic times with all their traditions and magic rites on its streets. The indigenous, colonial and modern areas, Indian Market, Witch Doctor's Market & breathtaking panoramas are all framed by the majestic "Illimani" mountain. Visit also the Moon Valley, a clay formation resembling the face of the Moon. Overnight at your selected hotel*.

7 Day 7: Rurrenabaque

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from your hotel to La Paz airport. Flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque (Not included on rate). The flight is a fabulous opportunity to see the Andes Mountain Range and a panoramic view of the Amazon rivers and forests. Pick up at Rurrenabaque airport, and transfer you to the Chalalán office, where you will fill in the forms to enter Madidi National Park and receive information about your trip to the Eco-lodge. Afternoon at leisure in Rurrenabaque. Overnight at your selected hotel*.

8 Day 8: Madidi National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at the hotel to take you to the River Beni, where you will get on a boat and start navigating for Chalalán Eco-lodge. The boats are equipped with a roof, comfy seats, life jackets, raincoats and a first-aid kit. The maximum seated capacity on the boats is 10 people. Travel by motor boat to the Chalalán Eco-lodge. The trip is a great way of seeing the Bala Canyon around the River Beni. The Madidi National Park is accessed by going up the River Tuichi. On your way you’ll see different animals and get a feel for the spectacular landscape of the Bolivian Amazon. We recommend you take binoculars. The trip takes around 5½ hours during the rainy season and 6 hours in the dry season, mainly in July, August and September. Packed lunch midway. Arrival at the port of Chalalán. 25 minute walk to the Eco-lodge along the wide and easy “Jaguar” path. Welcome snack on the shores of Lake Chalalán. Our logistics staff will help you with your luggage. Time to settle in at your cabin or room. Welcome lunch in the Eco-lodge. After lunch relax in a hammock or swim in Lake Chalalán. Short walk along one of the theme paths to learn about medicinal plants and more about personal interests. Return to the Eco-lodge and choose from the following optional activities: handicrafts, canoe trip, videos about the community and the Madidi National Park. Dinner in the Ecolodge dining room. Short night walk along the “Paraba” or “Silbador” path to see amphibians, reptiles, insects, tarantulas, rodents, birds and nocturnal monkeys. This is a great chance to hear the sounds of the jungle.

9 Day 9: Madidi National Park

Breakfast in the Eco-lodge dining room. Morning walk along the “Tapacare” path, where you can see and learn about the forest and the wildlife surrounding you. Optional themes: natural interpretation of the forest, natural history, ecological processes, medicinal plants and hardwood trees, animal behavior and bird and mammal watching. Return to the lodge. Snack. Lunch in the Eco-lodge dining room. After lunch, relax in a hammock or swim in Lake Chalalán. You will coordinate optional activities with your guide. Short walk along the “Paraba” path to the viewing point where you can see the beautiful landscape across Lake Chalalán, the mountains and the Madidi rainforest. Your guide will explain about the plants used for building - both hardwoods and palms - and the traditional and sustainable use of natural resources. Here your guide will talk about the park, our Eco-lodge and the community. Return to the lake to go on a canoe trip along the shores of Lake Chalalán, where you will be able to enjoy the sunset and see monkeys, birds, insects, bats, etc. Return to the Eco-lodge for a snack. Traditional “dunucuabi” dinner of catfish wrapped in leaves or fish á la “tacuara”, inside bamboo from the Bolivian Amazon. (This traditional dinner depends on the availability of the fish and may be offered any night during the stay). Night trip by canoe to see amphibians, nocturnal birds, fish-eating bats and caimans easily spotted because of their glowing eyes. Upon your return to the Eco-lodge you can take part in a traditional Quechua–Tacana night with music and dances from the San José de Uchupiamonas community. Your guide will explain the traditions of the Uchupiamonas people. (This activity will depend on the number of guests staying at the Ecolodge and may be offered any night during the stay).

10 Day 10: Madidi National Park

Breakfast in the Eco-lodge dining room. Short walk to spot wildlife. Lunch at 11:00 A.M. Last walk to Tuíchi River to take the boat back to Rurrenabaque. Arrive in Rurrenabaque. Transfer to the airport. Flight back to the city of La Paz. Transfer from the airport to the hotel in La Paz. Overnight at your selected hotel*.
